These 4 images recently taken from a vantage place inside the Jewish Quarter of Jerusalem show the top of what was the outer wall of the Old City of Jerusalem in the 1st century C.E., during the time of the Roman occupation. As you can see, where visitors are walking in the 21st century C.E. is well above the 1st century period demonstrating how many layers of habitation have been built up over the many centuries from King Solomon's time to the time of Jesus and beyond.
